Syllabus

Rhythm tap and Broadway tap styles. Dancers build clean sounds, musicality, and improvisation skills.

    Sound vocabulary

    Shuffles, flaps, cramp rolls, paradiddles, and time steps.

  2. 2

    Musicality

    Tapping with and against the beat — syncopation and dynamics.

  3. 3

    Improv games

    Trading 4s and 8s in a circle to build confidence.

  4. 4

    Choreography

    Recital piece with both group unison and small-group features.

What to bring

  • Form-fitting attire
  • Oxford or Mary Jane tap shoes

Recital

This class participates in the annual spring recital. Costume fees and tech rehearsal dates are shared mid-season.
